How Do I Know Who’s Coming to My Property?

🧾 When a renter books your cage, you’ll see their name and contact info in your CageList dashboard — along with any message they include in their request.

Here’s how to get more clarity before the session:

  • 💬 Message them directly through the platform to confirm who’s attending
  • 📋 Ask how many players will be present and whether it’s adults or kids
  • 🪪 Require a profile photo and short bio before accepting (optional, but encouraged)

✅ CageList is working on stronger verification tools, but for now, you’re always in control — you can decline any booking that doesn’t feel right.

💡 Tip: You can add a line to your rules requiring renters to bring ID or check in before using your cage.

What’s the Policy on Alcohol, Glass, or Music?

🍻 CageList leaves these policies up to each host, but we strongly encourage you to set clear boundaries in your listing rules to prevent safety issues and neighbor complaints.

Examples of Common Host Rules:

  • 🚫 No alcohol or intoxication allowed during sessions
  • 🥤 No glass bottles or breakable containers near turf/netting
  • 🔊 Only low-volume music — portable speakers OK, no large sound systems

✅ You can customize these rules in the “Additional Rules” section of your listing. Renters agree to them during checkout.

💡 Pro Tip: If you’ve had noise complaints in the past, consider specifying a speaker limit (e.g., “Only our provided Bose speaker allowed”).

Can I Require Supervision for Kids or Teams?

✅ Yes — you are 100% allowed to require adult supervision for any booking involving minors, teams, or group use.

In fact, CageList encourages hosts to include clear supervision policies in their rules. You can state things like:

  • 🧒 “Adult supervision is required for all users under age 16”
  • 👥 “A coach or parent must be present for team rentals”
  • 🚫 “No unsupervised youth sessions allowed”

📋 Add these requirements in your listing’s “Additional Rules” section so renters agree to them before booking.

💡 Tip: You can also print your supervision policy and post it on-site for visibility.

Should I Be Home During the Rental?

🏠 It’s entirely up to you. Many hosts prefer to be home during sessions — especially for early bookings — but it’s not required.

Here are the pros and cons:

✅ If You’re Home:

  • 👋 You can greet renters and make sure they follow the rules
  • 🛠 You’re available to help if anything goes wrong
  • 🚨 Added peace of mind for first-time hosts

✅ If You’re Not Home:

  • 📲 Make sure your instructions are crystal clear
  • 🔒 Be sure to secure any areas not meant for renter use
  • 📸 Consider using outdoor cameras or motion alerts for monitoring (optional and legal in most cases)

💡 Many experienced hosts move to “self-service” rentals once they’ve built confidence with renters and set clear rules.

Do I Need a Fence or Locked Gate?

🔐 No — you’re not required to have a fence or locked gate to list your cage on CageList. But depending on your location and setup, it can help with both security and clarity for renters.

Benefits of a fenced or gated area:

  • 🚧 Sets a clear boundary for renters and guests
  • 🔑 Helps manage access if you won’t be present during the session
  • 📸 Offers peace of mind when documenting renter entry and exit

💡 Tip: If you don’t have a fence, consider adding simple signage or a cone to mark entry, or ask that renters message you upon arrival.

Do Renters Sign a Liability Waiver?

🧾 Yes — renters must agree to the official CageList Liability Waiver before completing their booking.

The waiver covers key areas including:

  • ⚠ Assumption of risk for batting cage activities
  • 🛡 Release of liability for property owners and CageList
  • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parental responsibility for minors

Renters acknowledge this waiver during checkout, and hosts are encouraged to keep a printed copy available on-site just in case.

Is My Property Protected If Something Happens?

🔒 CageList takes safety seriously, but it’s important to understand what is and isn’t covered as a host.

Currently, CageList does not provide a built-in host protection policy like insurance or damage coverage. However, we offer tools and best practices to help minimize risk:

  • 🧾 Require renters to agree to the official CageList Liability Waiver
  • 📋 Add clear rules to your listing to set expectations
  • 📸 Document the condition of your space with photos
  • 🤝 Communicate clearly and confirm details before the session

💡 We’re working on a future host protection plan — but for now, the best protection is transparency, preparation, and clear communication.
